Year 10 STEM - Rosemeadow Marketplace

Rosemeadow Marketplace writing

This term, in Mathematics, student have been exploring the concept of Financial Mathematics. In particular students have been focusing on earning and managing money. They have been tasked with creating a small business, specifically a kebab or cupcake shop, where they have been looking at paying employees, budgeting, renting or apply for a loan to buy a shop and so on. They must then present their business idea to a shark tank to see if they are able to get an investor for their business as part of their assessment task this term.

To allow students to make an accurate estimate of the income and expenses behind running a small business, students are being provided the opportunity to walk to Rosemeadow Marketplace to visit the Jordan Kebab House during a Mathematics lesson. Students will ask questions of the manager of Jordan Kebab House about running a successful small business and are then allowed to purchase lunch before returning to school.
